The Championship started in 1995. It has grown to be the largest women’s amateur golf competition in the world and we want YOU to be a part of the fun and excitement. Members of all skill levels are encouraged to compete, so give the Championship a try and put your game to the test!

Important Dates:

  • July 8th: Columbus Championship (rain date is July 15th); deadline to register is Wednesday, June 21st at 3:00 pm.
  • August 12th: Ohio Valley Semi-Final Championship
  • October 6-7th: The Championship Finals

How Does this Work? The Championship offers two different formats: Stroke Play (individual play in flights designated by handicap) and Team Scramble (4-person teams). You select the format that best fits your game, personality and skill level.

There are three stages of the Championship. Two winners from each stroke play flight and the two winning scramble teams advance to the next stage.

Columbus Championship, an 18-hole local qualifying round held at Cooks Creek Golf Club; Ashville, OH; July 8th; Fee $89 includes one-time HQ Championship participation fee, range balls, cart, green fee, food at the awards ceremony.

Ohio Valley Semi-Final Championship, an 18-hole round held at the Quicksilver Golf Club; Midway, PA; August 12th

Championship Finals, a two-day, 36 hole event held at Hot Springs Village (Grenada, Ponce de Leon & Magellan Courses); Hot Springs, AR; October 6-7th

Stroke Play Competition:

Flight: Handicap Range

Championship: 0.0 to 12.0
First: 12.1 to 19.0
Second: 19.1 to 25.0
Third: 25.1 to 32.0
Fourth: 32.1 to 40.4

Scramble Team Competition:
      Handicap Index: Computation Factor

0.0 to 12.0: +2
12.1 to 19.0: +1
19.1 to 25.0: 0
25.1 to 32.0: -1
32.1 and higher: -2

The Team Computation Factor (Handicap) is the sum of the factors listed in the table above. Look up each team member’s handicap index in the table above, and add the computation factors in the right-hand column. The sum of the factors is the Team Computation Factor.

The Team Computation Factor must fall in the range of +2 to –5 prior to the June 15th midnight handicap update. Teams with a Computation Factor that is greater than +2 will not be eligible to compete. Teams with a Computation Factor less than -5 may compete but the Team Handicap must remain at -5. Only one member of the team shall have a handicap index of 12.0 or less.

Senior and Super Senior
: Recognition awards will be given to the low gross and low net Seniors (age 55-69) and Super Seniors (age 70+).  These are recognition awards only, and these players do not advance to the Semi Finals.

What do I have to do to play? To qualify you must:

  • Be a female, member in good standing*
  • Have a current verifiable USGA Handicap Index less than 40.4 and have the equivalent of at least two 18-hole scores posted to your handicap record this year, prior to the June 15th handicap cut-off for our Chapter Championship.
  • Be an amateur golfer as defined by USGA Rules of Amateur Status
  • Follow the registration guidelines distributed by our local Chapter and register on time. There are absolutely no exceptions to the deadline.

*Gender Policy applies

Now What?

Establish your handicap OR make sure your handicap is current no later than June 14th at 11:59 pm.  Here’s how:
  • To Establish a handicap index: play and post five 18-hole scores or ten 9-hole scores to the GN21 (or other) handicap system by June 14th.
  • Ensure a Current handicap: play and post at least two 18-hole scores or four 9-hole scores to the handicap system during the current 2017 season by June 14th.
Decide whether you want to play as an individual or part of a scramble team. If it’s team play – find 3 other Chapter members and make a team.

Register for the July 8th Championship at Cooks Creek no later than Wednesday, June 21st at 3:00 pm.

Review the Prep-to-Play and Player documents and current USGA Rules.

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE – and don’t forget the 19th hole!
